Miro Kadoić is a Croatian saxophonist, composer, and arranger born in Zagreb. He graduated from the Academy of Music in Zagreb and began his professional career in the 1980s, later becoming a member of the Croatian Radiotelevision Jazz Orchestra (HRT Jazz Orchestra).From 1993 to 2007, he was a featured soloist with the RTV Slovenia Big Band, performing with internationally acclaimed jazz musicians such as Johnny Griffin, Clark Terry, Maria Schneider, David Murray, Bill Holman, and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. He also studied in New York with renowned musicians Reggie Workman and Blue Lou Marini.Since 2007, Kadoić has been the lead alto saxophonist and soloist of the HRT Jazz Orchestra. He has performed with the Duke Ellington Orchestra as a guest lead alto saxophonist and was a co-founder of the VIP Jazz Big Band, which collaborated with avant-garde saxophonist David Murray. With his own Mirokado Orchestra, he hosted the acclaimed American saxophonist Chico Freeman.A multiple recipient of the Status Award for Best Alto Saxophonist, Kadoić also received the Porin Award for Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz Performance (2012), as well as the Croatian Composers’ Society Award for Best Jazz Composition (2008). As a composer and bandleader, he has released numerous jazz recordings and continues to support and collaborate with emerging musicians.
